Quissac is a large picturesque village along the Vidourle River located between the Cevennes Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea in Languedoc Roussillon. It is surrounded by vineyards and garrigue, a type of Mediterranean scrubland.

This village of 3200 inhabitants is well positioned in the Gard at approximately 40 km from both Nimes and Montpellier, 18 km North of Sommieres, 15 minutes from the foot of the Cevennes and 50 minutes from the beaches.

Quissac is a pretty village with medieval origins. The old part of the town called “quartier de Viele” has kept its medieval look with its narrow streets and old stone houses. Later the town specialised in the production of hats and silk stockings. Quissac is also known for its bridge over the Vidourle and its large neoclassic protestant church built facing the river.

Quissac has kept all the charm of a village but with the services of a town. On Wednesdays it holds its weekly market that is appreciated by the locals as well as by visitors. Quissac has several village fairs and offers many activities.
